Edited by Paul Arthur Schilpp. Northwestern University Press. $4.00 Unperturbed by reckless speculation on the one side and impoverished positivism on the other, the disciplined imagination of Santayana expresses itself twice again, in a "grammar of the spirit" and in his own spiritual biography. The last volume in Realms of Being belongs with the best among his many books, while a less formal Apologia Pro Mente Sua in reply to nineteen commentators focusses attention on the broader significance of his thought. For conceiving the co-operative project of which the latter is part, Professor Schilpp deserves renewed commendation; but unfortunately absent from the present volume—the first concerned Dewey—is any analysis of Santayana's ideas on philosophic method, of his philosophical terminology and expository technique, or of his political p
