We go trundling down the Bowery. We consist of Alliance Operative, nice fellow--smart--a democrat; gets on well with the luminaries and with the guys on work release or parole, doing this shit to keep their noses clean. Also of we is Famous Newscaster, who is just that but futhermore devoted for many years to Plight of the Homeless and says the f-word when on this Wednesday night tour of duty, to let visiting luminaries know that this jaunt ain't no picnic. Luminaries tonight consist of Public Relations man, fat and cardigan-clad, not pleasant, but tells story about Dorothy Day when we go past the old Catholic Worker Building, because perhaps the Driver shows Libertarian tendencies? Understands Driver went to Barnard--not that that's related--and what year did you graduate,---? pointedly using Driver's first name because luminaries in PR are quick to learn such things.
