Edited by Vivian Patraka. TEXT EDITOR'S NOTE This version of LITTLE WOMEN: The Tragedy adheres to its July 31, 1989, performance at Interartheatre, New York. Split Britches Company provided me with a videotape of this performance which was done at Interart for participants of the 1989 Women and Theatre Program Conference, at which I was present. Using a rough copy of the playtext for context, my research assistant, Mary Callahan Boone, and I transcribed directly from the tape, putting in whatever stage directions we thought would add to a reader's appreciation of the work. Since I've deliberately picked selections from LITTLE WOMEN: The Tragedy that would complement a text for readers, I regret that a good deal of interesting stage business, burlesque-like routines,
