The Chaos I’m Living In

Voting for elections is very important for us, as a way of expressing ideas what we want for our society in our democracy.

Electoral maps seem more important to government officials than maps that reveal how people are living within a country. Geography seems to be merely statistical data, which is only interesting to be manipulated or in so far that it can be manipulated by those in power. These drawings were made in maps, atop maps, from Rio de Janeiro, the city I live in. But it has the potential to apply to any major city on the planet. The concept here is to examine how government impacts our geography, our way of living, bringing destruction of forests and social inequality.

I have used graphite on old cartographic map prints to create these drawings.
