I’m on Page 108. What About You?

KR recently launched a community-wide read of Margaret Atwood’s Oryx and Crake in anticipation of Atwood’s appearance at the first annual Kenyon Review Literary Festival, November 9-10. Supported in part by the Ohio Arts Council and the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County, KR purchased 100 copies of Oryx and Crake and gave them away at local bookstores. In October and November, we’ll host discussions related to the book at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County. The Knox Reads! event is modeled loosely after the National Endowment for the Arts’ Big Read initiative. It’s all an effort to encourage communities to read literature. The results so far have been encouraging: the local newspaper ran two large stories and KR received enthusiastic participation from several organizations and businesses. You don’t have to live in Knox County to join us–start reading Oryx and Crake today and then come to Gambier in November for the KR LitFest.
