Griffin Poetry Prize Winners Announced. Charles Wright’s Scar Tissue (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) and Don McKay’s Strike/Slip (McClelland & Stewart) are the International and Canadian winners of the seventh annual Griffin Poetry Prize. The prize is for first edition books of poetry published in 2006. Wright and McKay will receive C$50,000 each. The judges for the 2007 prize were poets John Burnside (Dunfermline, Scotland), Charles Simic (New Hampshire, USA) and Karen Solie (Toronto, Canada). The Griffin Poetry Prize Shortlist, announced in April, included books by Ken Babstock, Priscila Uppal, Paul Farley, Rodney Jones, and Frederick Seidel.
